The Union Parish Library is going wild this summer with the 2021 National Theme for Summer Reading, “Tails and Tales”. Storytimes, book clubs, reading challenges, art programs, author presentations and teen dramas will all center around the animal theme to promote reading through the summer months.
Union Parish schools are starting to wind down for the school year and students are looking forward to their summer vacation.
However, UP Library Director, Stephanie Herrmann encourages all students to continue their reading throughout the summer months. “For academic reasons alone, studies have shown that when students continue to read through the summer, it actually helps their brains retain information learned during the previous school year. That continuity of brain activity helps prepare those students for the coming school year because information is retained,” said…
