A round-the-clock space for ‘coding, hacking, cosplay’ and more opens in Richardson innovation district

The Lab.ms, a volunteer-run nonprofit inviting people to collaborate on creative technology projects in a shared workspace, opened what it calls its new “hackerspace-makerspace” in Richardson last month.

In an announcement online, the organization said it had moved from its previous base in Plano to a new location at 999 Arapaho Road, Suite 300, and TheLab.ms is now accepting new members.

Its 3,000-square-foot space is in the Richardson Innovation Quarter, the recently declared 1,200-acre district that makes up a slice of the city’s storied Telecom Corridor. City officials rezoned and rebranded the district in a concerted effort to spur new development and build a kind of hub luring tech companies, startups and other organizations to the area.

TheLab.ms is among the first new tenants of the innovation district.
