It all began when, seven years ago, a Mumbai ceiling fell and broke all the furniture in Richa Shrivastava Chhabra’s husband’s office. He called a few people to build some goods from scratch and, incidentally, the duo gave birth to the idea of Maker’s Asylum. Today, their social enterprise has evolved to be a community-driven open lab where you can casually stumble upon robotic elements, virtual reality, woodworking shops and all kinds of tools that bring DIY enthusiasts together. Championing the thought that everyone is a maker, what Richa and Vaibhav have created is something hands-on and unhackneyed.
