Garden City Public Library Director Marianne Malagon addressed the Library Board of Trustees on Monday, March 8 about challenges in formulating the Library’s budget. The Library’s budget projection is calling for nominal increases as investments in technology and consulting services that were outlined during budget development sessions in March.
Malagon said in the GCPL Capital Budget for 2021-2022, which she worked with Village Treasurer Irene Woo and Deputy Treasurer Darcia Palmer, contains money not spent in the current fiscal year’s Technology budget line. This presents “an offset to future technology expenditures that we’re going to have in the upcoming year.” There are about $15,000 in traditional Garden City Public Library “traditional tech expenditures” that will move from the capital budget into the operating budget, Malagon noted.
