IMPERIAL — The Imperial City Council approved a couple of buys to improve their Public Library with a proposed Teen Space and Workspace table through $44,000 identified for youth programs and education through the March & Ash cannabis conditional use permit.
At the January 20 City Council meeting, Community Service Director Ember Haller requested the purchase of furnishings not to exceed $25,500 to create the new Teen Space, including the purchase of $5,500 worktable to create a “Maker Space” for the area. The City Council approved the requests with a unanimous 4-0 vote (Councilman Robert Amparano not being present).
“The overall objective in adding these features to our library is to improve the quality of life for our patrons and increase accessibility for the youth in our community,” Assistant City Manager Alexis Brown said.
