More changes are coming to the Central Library in Garden Place.
Big changes – and some big spending – are on the way for Hamilton’s public libraries as they expand from being mere book repositories to community hubs.
However, some big challenges also await library users as they adapt to the new systems.
Developments in the ongoing evolution of the facilities in Garden Place, Hillcrest, Chartwell, Dinsdale, St Andrews and Glenview are revealed in a report penned by libraries director Stephen Pennruscoe to a recent Hamilton City Council’s community committee meeting.
In 2015, the council formulated a strategic plan for the libraries, which identified numerous goals including an increased focus on digital literacy, creativity, and biculturalism.
