GlobalFoundries donates tools to Generator, Inc. in Burlington

GlobalFoundries in Essex Junction has donated equipment including a band saw, drill press and belt sander to Generator, Inc,. the nonprofit makerspace in Burlington that helps local startups get a foothold in the marketplace.

Generator offers access to shared tools, manufacturing equipment, software and educational programs through relationships with local universities, companies and other community shops in the state. But the organization struggles to make improvements to its facility and metal shop, said Elliott Katz, operations director, in a statement.

Katz said the donation from GlobalFoundries marks a huge improvement to Generator’s metal shop, and he hoped it was the beginning of a “lasting and productive relationship” between the two organizations.
