CAMP POINT, Il. (WGEM) — Camp Point students have a new facility to help them get hands on experience in the fields of science, technology, math and engineering known as the MakerSpace Lab.
Central High School senior Daxton Wiskirchen helped build the MakerSpace lab and said it has given him the tools he needs to to succeed.
“I’m leaning more towards going into computer science because of this class,” he said. “I really got an eye-opener of what it entails and just how fun it can be.”
Wiskirchen said his favorite part about the lab is making robots.
“They have ultrasonic sensors in the front with a camera and it rotates 360 degrees,” he said. “Hopefully we’ll be able to drive them down the hallways.”
The mastermind behind the Makerspace is Computer Science teacher Rob Scheiter.
