Your guide to the Chesapeake Arts Center’s fall programming in Brooklyn Park

Donna Anderson had only been the executive director of the Chesapeake Arts Center for a few months before the coronavirus pandemic forced the facility to shut its doors.

Now, after navigating the crisis, the Brooklyn Park arts resource is seeing participation numbers return to 2019 levels, according to Donna Anderson the center’s executive director.

“This is a part of the county that really needs the arts,” Anderson said. “We don’t want to be the hidden gem that no one knows about. We want to let people know that we are accessible and we offer a lot of opportunities for people to try new things regarding art.”

This week, the center is gearing up for its ninth annual Arts in the Park on Saturday, a free festival in Brooklyn Park featuring art, activities, vendors, food trucks, performances and more. Anderson said last year’s event drew nearly 1,000 community…
