Prairie View A&M University has received $70 million to build a new engineering and research building.
Texas A&M University System board of regents approved Wednesday the investment of the funds, which Prairie View A&M President Ruth Simmons said will transform the historically Black university’s teaching and research output.
“This new building will allow us to increase undergraduate and graduate degrees, hire more faculty and create more African-American engineers,” Simmons said.
The new building on the north end of campus will feature 106,000 square feet of space for instruction, student collaboration and multidisciplinary research and work, including 3-D manufacturing, space exploration, data analytic and artificial intelligence, robotics and structural analysis.
