The new and modernized New Canaan Library will no longer be just a venue for quiet-only reading.
Instead, the plans for the new 44,000-square-foot library include spaces for “experiential learning” with a teaching kitchen, co-working areas, a large living room with a fireplace and a business center.
The new building will have space for “people to meet and work together as some of the many ways our community learns and grows together,” Executive Director of the New Canaan Library Lisa Oldham said at presentation of the Planning and Zoning Commission last week.
On the mezzanine level, the plans include a “maker space,” according to architect Mark Herter, associate principal of Center Brook.
