DUBLIN, CA — Seven Dublin High School students were finalists in the FIRST Robotics Competition Regionals in Las Vegas, one of the most prestigious robotics competitions in the world. The Mechanical Magicians team worked hard to build two industrial-sized robots in a makerspace at the Livermore Municipal Airport hangar provided by nonprofit Robot Garden. Before that, they competed in Silicon Valley and Sacramento regional competitions, and advanced to national championships.
In 2023, their first year operating, the Mechanic Magicians won a Rookie All-Star Award after placing third at the Monterey Bay Regional FIRST Robotics semi-finals competition, and a Rookie Inspiration Award at the San Francisco Regional Competition. They advanced to national championships in Houston, where they competed against 600 teams from across the globe.
