In an effort to build on the education efforts at Austin-East High School, supporters rallied together to create a community fund that could be a “blessing for the school.”
The mission of the Austin-East Foundation is to fill the gaps that the school board and government entities can’t reach. Inequities in funding and financial support is rampant in city school districts across the country.
“Think about what could happen if we could put an extra $50,000 into Austin-East every year. This can make a difference for teachers, support staff and students. It’s enough to make a big difference.” said Matthew Best, a Knoxville resident and coach at Austin-East.
