FITCHBURG– Making Opportunity Count said Wednesday it was naming a building in the heart of Fitchburg’s Cleghorn neighborhood in honor of social leader and civil rights activist Adrian Ford who recently died at the age of 73.
The building at 18 Fairmount St. will now be called the Adrian L. Ford Center for Change, according to an announcement from the organization.
Scheduled to open its doors this summer, the Adrian L. Ford Center for Change will be the site of a new youth innovation center, a unique maker-space designed by youth in hopes of nurturing interests, skills and talents through hands-on exploration and entrepreneurship in creative fields, according to the announcement.
The space will also serve as the new home of Three Pyramids Inc., founded by Ford more than 50 years ago to lead advocacy, empowerment and policy work aimed at eliminating racial, gender and economic…
