ROCKFORD, MI – A Kent County school district is building a new, $28 million elementary building near U.S. 131 to make room for its growing student population.
Rockford Public Schools is adding a ninth elementary to the school district of around 7,700 students, to address capacity issues across its eight other elementary buildings.
The new Edgerton Trails Elementary School is being constructed on the northwest side of the school district, on Edgerton Avenue between 12 Mile Road and Saddle Ridge Drive, right next to U.S. 131.
The 85,000-square-foot building is expected to be completed by summer 2024 after over two years of construction. Grand Rapids-based firm Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. (OAK) is constructing the building, which is located on a 30-acre piece of land owned by the district.
