Traders in a Nottinghamshire district set to receive more than £62 million from the Government have called for the funds to be “spent wisely”.
And they have all unanimously called for projects to be supported which will “bring people back” into town centres.
The Government confirmed on Tuesday that Ashfield is set to receive a “staggering” £62.6 million as part of the Towns Fund initiative.
The investment, coupled with other schemes including £6.27 million in the Future High Streets fund, is part of more than £70 million in confirmed Government funding on its way to the district.
It has been hailed as a turning point by council officials and the district’s MP, marking the confirmation of a raft of projects aimed at improving jobs, health and wellbeing, tourism and the visitor economy.
