Renovations officially began this month inside the Fredda Turner Durham Children’s Museum, located at the Museum of the Southwest.
The reimagined space will be staffed by education professionals and serve as a welcoming focal point for families of the Permian Basin, according to a press release. Its open and flexible configuration provides numerous opportunities to build a learning grid of non-profit organizations, schools and families.
The revamped 8,000-square-foot facility will allow significant expansion of the museum’s high-demand arts activities and scheduled arts education programs. The open-concept design creates a flexible space for a long-term, cost-effective solution. The museum can focus on evolving programs and educational equipment, rather than incurring further capital construction costs.
