The Donation
Howard University‘s department of mechanical engineering will soon be home to an interdisciplinary maker space and innovation lab, where students can interact with peers from other disciplines such as architecture, science, and business. This is possible due to a $1 million gift from Autodesk.
The donation will fund a fully equipped laboratory with cutting-edge technology, including Autodesk software. The interdisciplinary space will be used not just to teach courses such as computer-aided design but also to provide students with a medium to conceptualize ideas, find innovative solutions, and take advantage of experiential learning opportunities.
