Akron Makerspace shows off its much larger home at Canal Place this weekend.
Starting at noon Saturday and running to 8 p.m., the all-volunteer nonprofit organization will hold its grand opening, free to the public, to show off what it does and what others can do at the new 10,000-square-foot home on the fifth floor at Canal Place, 540 S. Main St. That’s the same location as Missing Falls Brewery and the just-opened R. Shea production brewery and restaurant — both of which will sell beer at the open house.
Makers, in case you didn’t know, can be described in one way as do-it-yourselfers-meet-technology — people of varied interests, backgrounds and skill levels who create and build things and share their knowledge with each other.
