The Dearborn County Retired Teachers Foundation was founded to bring innovative and creative learning to the classroom. The foundation and its corporate sponsors provide funding for projects which are not funded by the school budget but which will enhance the learning of area students.
Funding for the foundation comes from donations and the retired teachers’ work at the Dearborn County 4-H Fair. Dinners at the annual presentation dinner are funded by LPL Financial.
Karla Patton, St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran School, has been awarded $750 by the Dearborn County Retired Teachers for her Math Extravaganza. Students in grades K-8 will have the opportunity to play several different math games. These games are intended to create interest in math and to improve attitudes toward the subject.
