Greenwich native and professional cartoonist Phil Lohmeyer is starting a 2D cartooning and animation clinic that aims to teach students the tricks of the trade.
The Comic Tree Workshop, which is taught at MakeInspires STEAM Makerspace in Mamaroneck, N.Y., teaches students how to create their own 2D characters, which are drawn by hand and will have facial features and emotions. The class combines traditional materials such as cut-paper, whiteboards, puppets and clay with modern technology like Stop Motion Studio, the graphics software Pixelmator and iMovie. The characters that students invent will have their own story with dialogue and a voice recorded with the audio app Garageband.
