Grand Forks Foundation for Education awards nearly $36,000 for enrichment projects in city’s public schools

Impact Grants, totaling $26,938, are being awarded to: Trina Connell and South, Schroeder and Valley middle schools, $4,938, for “Sixth Grade Music iPad Integration”; Kim Sande and the Reading Recovery program, $7,000, for “Integrating the Science of Reading into Elementary Reading Interventions”; and Alex Hovey and Red River and Grand Forks Central high schools, $15,000, for “RRHS and GFC Recording Studios.”

The Bill and Shirley Brown Endowment for Education has funded the Impact Grants since 1992. Income from the endowment is used to fund projects, ranging from $5,000 to $15,000, that have the potential for lasting influence at the district or grade level, or at one or more schools, according to Emilia Hodgson, the foundation’s executive director.
