The Eugene Family YMCA received a $1.5 million gift from the Chambers Family Foundation to help build a new facility at 24th Avenue and Hilyard Street.
“We are profoundly grateful to the Chambers family for their longtime commitment in support of the community,” Eugene Family YMCA CEO Brian Steffen said in a release announcing the gift.
The donation helped the YMCA meet a challenge grant from the Oregon Community Foundation. The Y was challenged to raise $3 million that would then be matched by $1 million from the foundation’s John E. and Robin Jaqua Fund.
