Education Minister Cliff Cullen announced the establishment of a Parent Engagement Task Force to guide public input and provide advice to the government on how to proceed with parent engagement as part of education reform.
The task force is made up of parents, community and school leaders and MLAs. Scott Johnston, legislative assistant to Cullen, will chair the task force. Other members include MLAs Ian Wishart and Janice Morley-Lecomte, parents, caregivers and school leaders.
They will meet with parents and caregivers through 15 regional meetings through the remainder of May and June to discuss how parent engagement can be strengthened. There will also be four telephone town halls, beginning on May 27 for the Winnipeg area.
