As we get ready to open our middle and high schools on Monday, we at the Alameda Unified School District would like to update the community on two important matters: our support of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and our modernization project at Encinal Junior & Senior High School.
In a small ceremony late last week, AUSD staff and students, along with Board of Education and community members, gathered to commemorate the raising of a banner at Historic Alameda High School that pledges AUSD’s alliance with the AAPI community.
The banner reading “Alameda Unified Stands with Our Asian-American and Pacific Islander Community” was installed after an AUSD group of AAPI teachers asked the district to make a public statement in support of their community.
