I’d like to offer a few thoughts on how to bring ShoppingTown into the 21st century, meet the needs of the community, provide a decent return to investors, be something Onondaga County can be proud of, and if I do so publicly, then maybe those in power may take some of these ideas seriously.
Given the decline of shopping malls and the exponential rise of online shopping, ShoppingTown may well now be the right size, right time and right place to embrace the idea of adjusting that property to meet the needs of consumers and also retailers and especially the community’s citizens.
If rents were fair, it would not be hard to attract a significant number of clothing and shoe stores to ShoppingTown.
But in order to survive, it must be tuned to meet the other…
