ST. CLOUD — Coming from four generations of pipefitters, Macanon “Mac” Dhein’s fondest childhood memory is hanging around his grandfather’s shop, “playing with all the tools, figuring out what they did and what (he) could make them do.”
Now Dhein, 36, is working to create a space where people young and old can go to experience that same spark of creativity and curiosity in the trades.
“It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for probably over 25 years, but I didn’t think there was a market for it,” Dhein said.
But when he began to look into the concept of a makerspace, he realized “it’s something of a movement in the last five to 10 years.”
