STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The brewing brass at Tompkinsville-based Flagship are calling their newest creation an “Irish innovation, brewed in New York.” With that, the company’s freshest style is born on Staten Island as Wolfhound, a nitrogen-infused Irish Dry Stout at 4.3 percent ABV. It is the outcome of co-owner Jay Sykes’ recent visit to Porterhouse Brew Co. in Dublin, Ireland.
“A lot of American craft brewers don’t know how to make a nitro beer. And we don’t have the machinery. So there’s a lot of secretive-type of science that goes into this that’s pretty tightly held over in Ireland. That’s why you just you don’t see them readily available from American craft brewers,” said Sykes.
