Emerald Coast Science Center holds activities students’ holiday break

FORT WALTON BEACH — Fall is in the air, and it’s time for all things pumpkin spice: latte, candles, pie … and slime?

Siblings Xander and Zoe Ramersad were at the Emerald Coast Science Center on Tuesday morning mixing up a bright orange concoction that stuck to their hands as they kneaded it like dough. They were making pumpkin spice slime, a mixture of glue, shaving cream, baking soda and other ingredients in the science center’s Makerspace craft classroom.

The pumpkin-themed project was one of several science-based activities on tap this week at the Science Center to coincide with the Thanksgiving Day holiday break.

“We always like to have special activities during the school breaks,” said Lisa Parkinson, the center’s program coordinator.
