The revised store format includes a “trend hub” section in the fine art, kids, seasonal and custom framing departments that allows customers to test products prior to purchasing, according to a Sept. 9 press release. It also includes a “maker space,” which is used to host classes and demonstrations. Customers can use the space and supplies free-of-charge for their own projects, according to the release.
“At Michaels, we are here for the Maker and the launch of our new concept stores is another way we are creating a more immersive and impactful experience for them,” Ron Stoupa, Senior vice president of marketing, said in the release.
