People may wonder what librarians are talking about when they say libraries are more than just books. That is because they are. Most public libraries have unique collections such as a Library of Things, a Makerspace department, digital books, events and speakers of all sorts, story-times, pop-up libraries at events and farmer’s markets, and so much more. One other major way that libraries extend past their walls are through outreach programs to their local schools.
Public Libraries traditionally work with their elementary schools to help promote summer reading programs. These partnerships have expanded to include year-round services.
