PELHAM, NY — The first day of school in Pelham is Sept. 9, and it will be a very special day for the whole district.
On opening day, officials, parents and students will commemorate the opening of the brand new Hutchinson Elementary School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m.
Following the ribbon cutting, attendees will be offered tours of the new building.
Pelham voters approved a $57.5 million bond proposal in 2018 that included a new state-of-the art building. The 68,0000 square foot school, built by Triton Construction Management to a design by KG+D Architects, PC, serves students in grades K-5. Features include a central learning commons/atrium and MakerSpace surrounded by two floors of flexible classroom space, a full-sized gymnasium that is intended to serve both the school and greater Pelham community, and a multipurpose room/cafeteria.
