GPFPE awards more than $30,000 to school district

The Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education announced $30,270 in grants to the Grosse Pointe Public School System at the live-streamed meeting of the GPPSS Board of Education Monday, Dec. 14. The following 10 grants were awarded:

1. Dramatic Play Equipment for kindergarten at Monteith ($3,731)

This grant purchases wooden play equipment replacements for three kindergarten classes. Dramatic play is a mandatory part of early childhood learning goals, as the students learn about collaboration, compassion and diversity, while using the new kitchen equipment. GPFPE is fortunate to be able to fund this grant through the Lois J. Warden Fund that has been established for important elementary programs within the school system. 2. All Hands on Deck for third grade at Mason ($406)
