BUTLER — Soon-to-be superintendent Shane Conwell said Thursday he is proud of the DeKalb Eastern school district’s response to COVID-19.
“I never would have expected … and I’m glad to say that we’ve been in school about every single day that we could have this year,” Conwell said.
Conwell spoke to DeKalb Chamber Partnership members through a Zoom meeting for the DeKalb Vision 2021 forum.
Superintendents Tonya Weaver of Garrett-Keyser-Butler Schools, Tony Cassel of Hamilton Community Schools and Steve Teders of DeKalb Central Schools also participated. Tenders’ comments were reported in Friday’s edition of The Star.
Conwell will become superintendent of DeKalb Eastern schools on Friday, when 25-year Superintendent Jeffrey Stephens retires.
