FITCHBURG — Making Opportunity Count has announced the naming of a building in the heart of Fitchburg’s Cleghorn neighborhood in honor of social leader and civil rights activist Adrian Ford, who recently died at the age of 73. The building at 18 Fairmount St. will now be called the Adrian L. Ford Center for Change.
The Adrian L. Ford Center for Change, slotted to open its doors this summer, will house a new Youth Innovation Center — a unique makerspace designed by youth that aims to nurture interests, skills and talents through hands-on exploration and entrepreneurship in creative fields. The space will also serve as the new home of Three Pyramids Inc., founded by Ford more than 50 years ago to lead advocacy, empowerment and policy work aimed at eliminating the racial, gender and economic inequities.
“This is such a fitting tribute to Adrian Ford’s legacy of empowerment,”…
