
The FabLab and Makerspace have exhausted their annual funding and closed for the remainder of the semester, laying off the 20 students who staffed the workshops part-time in late February. The Makerspace provides machines and other creative tools, such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and woodworking. The FabLab offers fiber arts resources for students, including bookbinding, embroidery, knitting, and button making. Both spaces are managed by Academic Technology Programs Specialist David Keiser-Clark, and are located in Sawyer Library.
The spaces, which enable students and faculty to pursue creative projects, have seen a 159 percent increase in its number of supported projects between the calendar years 2024 to 2025, according to a document obtained by the Record that Keiser-Clark sent to student workers.
