MITCHELL — A downtown makerspace is getting a boost that its owners hope will expand offerings and get creative juices flowing in the community.
Your Shop, located on Mitchell’s Historic Main Street, has been awarded a $10,000 Backing Small Businesses Enhancement Grant through a partnership between American Express and Main Street America. The grant is part of the national Backing Small Businesses program, which supports small businesses facing economic challenges while encouraging growth and community impact.
Out of thousands of applicants across the country, Your Shop was selected as one of just over 400 recipients. For co-owners Tanya and Mark Kitto, the award came as a surprise.
“We weren’t expecting it at all,” Tanya Kitto said. “They had thousands to choose from, and they picked a little business like us.”
