TENANTS HARBOR, Maine (WABI) – A school on the midcoast has been fundraising for months to create a first-of-its-kind Career and Education center in our state.
“We think that we’ve created a model for how to approach education differently that allows kids to work with their hands and mind to build and create,” said St. George MSU superintendent, Mike Felton.
Bringing together the traditional trades with new technologies and skills – that’s what St. George Municipal School in Tenants Harbor has been doing for some time.
They’re partnering with the Mid-Coast School of Technology in Rockland to develop a Career Technical Education program and build a CTE/Makerspace building.
Last December, they were named a finalist for the coveted Yass Prize.
At that point, they had raised more than $2.8 million for the project.
