There are many reasons to cherish the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park in New Bedford.
Since its urban acres were designated a national park, it has defined the city’s historic downtown.
You find New Bedford’s past within its boundaries, for sure, but also its future in its graceful Visitors Center and vibrant Corson Building. And its rangers and volunteers are recognized as invaluable representatives and outstanding stewards of both the park and the city they serve.
Not content to rest on those impressive laurels, the park created the Corson MakerSpace a few years back. That was in recognition of New Bedford’s present tense as a powerful incubator of arts and culture.
And within that effort, they established a simple but profound program — an artist-in-residence program that is enriching the city and furthering the park’s mission in exciting ways.
