New Brant County makerspace about breaking barriers

The County of Brant Public Library is asking locals whether a large format printer, embroidery machine or professional drone would be most appreciated in their new makerspace.

With an initial budget of around $10,000, newly hired makerspace co-ordinator Jeremy Taylor has big plans for a space that will offer barrier-free technology to allow patrons to explore their interests in an informal and fun manner, he said.

“We provide equipment, education, and other services and technology that would typically be prohibitive to own,” Taylor said.

The library already has a replicator mini 3D printer, and recently acquired two large 3D printers. Taylor said there will be no time limit to use them, and patrons won’t have to stay while they print.
