Jennifer Stanley knows one of the best-kept secrets in town.
The owner of a local makerspace that’s been quietly changing lives for years, she’s witnessed the impact of her workshop on many creators, and she’s now eager to welcome many more. She has countless solutions for this summer’s gift-giving challenges, whether you want to celebrate a new baby, a wedding, a new beach house or a retirement.
But if all you really want is a chance to relax, meet new people and make something to be proud of, she can provide that, too.
Stanley and her family run the DIY Workshop at 1208 Jamestown Road in James City County, and items made of wood are their specialty. The walls of their workshop showcase a wide array of signs, plaques and other items makers can create, some colorfully painted with fun figures, others carefully stained, with elegant stenciled fonts.
