Thanks to the Kentucky Science Center and Samtec, fourth and fifth grade students at Heth-Washington Elementary School have been filling their minds with STEAM for the last six months.
STEAM education, or science, technology, engineering, art and math, is an expansion of traditional STEM learning. The Kentucky Science Center offers MakerPlace STEAM carts for six-month residencies at Louisville-area schools, and a grant from Samtec Cares brought the carts across the Ohio River in March 2023. Heth-Washington Elementary School was one of the first schools in the Hoosier State to receive a STEAM cart.
