A huge fund worth more than £6 million is set to come to a Nottinghamshire town centre to help revitalise its streets and prepare for the future.
And once it arrives, it will help drive forward schemes including investment in a theatre, the repurposing of vacant town centre units, and the introduction of a ‘pop-up food court’.
The money, a £6.2 million pot, will be provided to Ashfield District Council from the Government as part of the Future High Streets bid, aimed at improving Sutton-in-Ashfield town centre.
The council had initially bid for funding of up to £9.2 million, but an announcement from Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick on Boxing Day confirmed that the council had only been partially successful.
