WESTLAKE, Ohio — Westlake residents, by a wide margin, approved a five-year library millage renewal and 0.6 percent increase for the Westlake Porter Public Library on the May 2 ballot, according to final, unofficial results from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
There were 1,981 votes in favor of the issue, representing 76 percent of ballots cast, and 614 votes against the millage, at 23.6 percent.
Library Manager Andrews Mangels said he and other supporters were “thrilled that the voting public has reaffirmed their support for their public library.”
The current levy, which generates $4 million a year, is set to expire at the end of the year. The renewal and increase, at 3.4 mills, will bring in $5.1 million a year.
