After shutting its doors during the height of the pandemic, the Rockwood Library’s Teen Makerspace at 17917 S.E. Stark St., is once again open for young adults.
The space, which was opened in early 2016, gives teens from sixth grade to 12th grade a place to explore their creative pursuits, work on hands-on projects and simply hangout in a safe environment.
The space has dozens of tools and supplies that teens can use to create all kinds of projects including 3D printing machines, sewing machines, laser-cutting devices and now a new embroidery set.
Prepandemic, the space was open to teens for certain hours after school, but when COVID hit, the space had to be closed.
Although it reopened in early May, staffing shortages have limited the time teens can drop in and use the crafting and building tools. …
