What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word ‘library’? Books, of course. Maybe you also think of DVDs, computers available for public use, child and family storytimes, the bookmobile and genealogy assistance.
But did you know that the Wilson County Public Library also has a 3D printer, sewing machines, Cricut machines, die-cut machines, presses for applying press-on vinyl designs to T-shirts and a maker cart filled with plastic parts, gears and tools to make things like wind-up cars and dancing robots?
All these items … and more … can be found on the second floor of the Wilson County Public Library in the adult services department’s MakerSpace room. The mission of MakerSpace is to provide the public with technologies to support educational, professional and personal goals and undertakings.
