JACKSON, MI — With about 80 stations to choose from, kids were encouraged to get their hands on projects at the Learning Fair on Thursday, July 8.
“They learn how to change a tire, use power tools, use old-fashioned manufacturing tools,” Learning Fair coordinator Angela Klobuchar said. “They take a tool box and an appliance and rip it apart.”
The Learning Fair is made possible by an anonymous donor who had the idea for the event 28 years ago and has continued funding it since then, Klobuchar said.
“It’s a wonderful local family that just cares about our kids and his main purpose to that is kids are so often told, ‘Don’t. You can’t touch this, you can’t do that,’” Klobuchar said. “His viewpoint is how do you get to find out what you’re passionate about, and what you want to do in life if you don’t get to touch and try all kinds of things?”
