Innovative learning hub to open at Alachua County Library Headquarters

The new MakerSpace at the Headquarters Library encourages patrons young and old to explore new technologies and learn new skills at the library.
  • The Alachua County Library District is opening a new MakerSpace at its downtown Gainesville headquarters on Saturday.
  • The MakerSpace will feature 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, and other tools for creative and technical projects.
  • The library will offer workshops and classes in partnership with local experts and community groups.
  • The MakerSpace is free and open to the public.

The MakerSpace program housed at the headquarters of the Alachua County Library District in downtown Gainesville is hoped to become the destination and benefit for innovation and collaboration for hobbyists, aspiring entrepreneurs and those eager to learn.

The grand opening event will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at 401 E. University Ave. at library headquarters. It will feature live demonstrations and facility tours to launch the program that offers community members access to cutting-edge technology…
