LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — A new community makerspace in Luzerne is offering residents a place to build, experiment and learn with high-tech tools through workshops and open studio time.
HackWorks, located at 4 Marion St., offers memberships and day passes, with tools for 3D printing and digital fabrication, electronics and robotics, woodworking, metal and jewelry, textiles, sewing and embroidery, and more.
Founder Mike Roper said HackWorks is meant to give people a shared place to learn new skills and work on projects without needing to buy specialized equipment.
He added that he hopes the makerspace helps close a “knowledge gap” by giving people the tools and support to make things themselves.
For people who are curious but unsure where to start, it offers both instruction and access to the tools needed to try it.
