Access to the internet and technology in San Francisco’s Chinatown is often not available or unaffordable for many children and their families, but a nonprofit is hoping to change that with its new makerspace.
Cameron House offers a hands-on learning experience that didn’t really exist until now. The first-of-its-kind space in Chinatown is a place for young people to create, explore and imagine.
“For us, you know, really moving forward into the future, we live in the Bay. We live very close to Silicon Valley, yet our youth here in Chinatown, they do not actually have the access to technology, to the creative tools that many other students growing up in more affluent communities have access to,” Cameron House CEO Scott Lan says.
